Reaching Hands Ranch is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a unique program that rescues horses and uses them to mentor at-risk youth. Reaching Hands Ranch was established in January of 2006, and serve youth from our local communities and horses within the State of Wyoming. 

Our organization rescues horses who need refuge and rehabilitation and uses them to provide children between the ages of 9 and 18 with a hands-on mentoring experience that aids in the prevention of abuse and neglect through a caring and learning environment. Our mission is to provide a life changing refuge and rehabilitation experience benefiting children and horses in need of a second chance.

Our Program

Our youth "Ranch Hands" learn to care for the horses and assist in placing the animals in a new home. Horses used in the program will be required to pass a safety evaluation. Each week we focus on a lesson in character including citizenship, trustworthiness, respect, caring, responsibility and accountability.

Each program is six weeks in duration, three days per week, three hours per day. At the end of the program, Reaching Hands Ranch will host a family day so the Ranch Hands can bring family and friends alike to witness their accomplishments and meet their horses.

This program is a wholesome, refreshing experience for youth participants who have suffered from abuse, neglect or loss. Although the program does not involve counseling or therapy, the outcome of interacting with animals does have a therapeutic effect on children.
